The SMD Back Light is the ambient half of a NEUE installation, built at UGR below 10 — a rating tight enough that the fixture produces almost no perceptible glare even when it sits directly in view, which matters because ambient fixtures on a low-profile track are seen far more often than they're deliberately looked at. T2060 at 600mm is the workhorse length, covering a standard room bay's ambient requirement from one fixture. T2090 at 900mm is specified for larger open-plan zones or commercial lobbies where fewer, longer fixtures are preferable to multiple shorter ones on the same run.

A data note worth flagging directly: the RF+BT variant label in Shopify currently reads "RT + BT" — a data entry typo. When should the SMD Back Light be used instead of the Linear Spot Light?

The Back Light's 120° beam at UGR below 10 is built for ambient fill — the general light level in a room. The Linear Spot's 24° beam at UGR below 15 is built for accent — directed light on a specific object or surface. A complete NEUE installation typically runs both: Back Lights set the baseline light level, Spot Lights add contrast above it. Neither substitutes fully for the other.

How many Back Lights does a standard room need?

For a 10x12ft residential room at a 9-10ft ceiling, one T2060 (600mm) run along a wall typically covers the ambient requirement on its own, with Spot fixtures added for accent as needed. Larger or open-plan rooms scale up to the T2090 or multiple T2060 units along the perimeter track run.
