Why does a ring track need a mix of Spot and Diffused fixtures rather than one type?

A ring of Spot fixtures alone leaves visible dark gaps between the beams, since each 24° beam only covers a narrow cone directly below it. A ring of Diffused fixtures alone flattens the light with no definition on the table surface. Mixing both — Spots for the table accent, Diffused for the gaps — is what produces even, purposeful light rather than either a spotty or a flat result.

How do I choose between the 180mm and 360mm Round Spot for my ring?

Match the fixture length to the ring diameter rather than the room. The 180mm T2006 is proportioned for 600-900mm rings; the 360mm T2012 for the 1500mm ring. Using the shorter fixture on a 1500mm ring leaves it looking visually undersized against the larger circumference.
